Week One

The new projects we have following our dissertation is to choose from YCN Annual which included briefs for companies such as Marks and Spencers and Boost Energy Drink.

Having looked through the briefs in full, the first one I decided I was going  to answer the Sega brief which entailed creating  a piece of communication that celebrates / is inspired by Sonics 20th Anniversary and that could be shared and showcased throughout the year. The work could live online, in print, in a physical space or anywhere else for that matter.

The brief is an open one and could be any media we choose which allows full freedom to be able to think about for ideas and not just stuck to one media. The Full Brief Can Be Read Here

The second brief I chose was P&O which the brief states for the challenge:

“In 2011, P&O Ferries are launching two state of the art ships on the Dover – Calais route at a cost of 360 million Euros, so whilst we want to celebrate the past, we also need to embrace the future. The new ships will head the 2011 marketing campaigns for P&O Ferries, encouraging consumers to expect more from P&O Ferries, not only on the Dover – Calais route but across the network.”

The idea should be flexible to work on outdoor, online and in print campaigns although it states:

“Consideration should also be given to: TV, Radio, Rich media and Social media. We would like to develop a creative concept that has strong brand presence, works ’through the line’ in the media described above, both nationally (promoting the entire route network) and locally (promoting the relevant route) while drawing on the P&O brand heritage. All of the above must be considered within the creative solution.”

Next I thought about ideas which I will place in the next post. Although we started this project about a month ago I am now only just getting chance to update my blog so I will update it up to where I am now as fast as possible each stage with their own posts.
